Financial Analyst for Non-Profit Foundation

Non-profit foundation based in downtown Los Angeles is looking for an experienced finance professional to assist the President with administrative functions pertaining to the oversight of the Foundation’s investments.  Investments include alternative and equity assets, primarily in the form of limited partnerships holding real estate and private equity and hedge fund investments.  These investments, including commitments, total approximately $500 million.

 

Responsibilities of position include:

·  Maintain databases for tracking capital calls, income accruals and distributions, fee accruals, market values, cash balances and financial data as requested

·  Monitor portfolio reports and financial statements from fund managers and cash flows and release wires

·  Create and maintain a process for tracking Unrelated Business Income Tax (UBIT) liabilities generated by alternative investments

·  Working with custodian and investment managers prepare draft transaction authorization documents for new investments, capital calls, liquidations and cash transfers

·  Reconciliation of banking account, cash movements and rebalancing

·  Draft Investment Manager instruction letters and assist in the preparation of investment memorandums and spreadsheets

·  Support and maintain contact management database

·  Coordinate timetables for the collection of daily, monthly, and quarterly investment data from investment managers and custodian; receive process, and evaluate this information for its completeness and correctness in preparation for monthly financial close and audit

·  Assist outside accountant with monthly close and produce some information schedules for the annual audit of the Foundation

·  Perform some financial and investment analysis and work with President on ad hoc financial projects

·  Assist in the mailing and faxing of investment materials to managers and the investment committee

·  Daily distribution of prior day activity reports and trade confirmations

·  Trouble-shoot any system problems relating to custodial bank reporting system

·  Maintain list of unsettled sales of limited partnership stock distributions

·  Maintain working knowledge of other staff responsibilities related to financial activities for back up purposes

·  Maintain the monthly investment account analyses spreadsheet and investment manager files

 

Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics or related area is highly desired.  Candidates should have a minimum of three to five years of investment experience and a strong understanding of investment assets, strong quantitative and analytical skills and attention to detail, ability to think critically, work independently and meet deadlines, excellent oral and written communication skills, and excellent computer skills.
