Direct Holdings Americas Inc, the exclusive marketer of Time Life music, videos, DVDs, books and educational materials, is looking for a Financial Manager for their Northern VA office.






Overview:

 

This position is responsible for all facets of financial management for the Product Marketing and Media department’s direct response business.  This includes all short and long range planning, current year income management, profitability analysis, and direction of close related activities.

 

Responsibilities:

 

· Marketing Department Budgeting: coordinate and prepare annual budgets and periodic re-estimates for the TV, Internet and new product development teams.  Includes translating product and marketing plans into current year income statements, analyzing and projecting business and economic trends, and analyzing expense trends and relationships.

· Marketing Analysis: analyze the financial impact of all product, marketing and operational activities.  Determine profitability, evaluate options and recommend course of action to senior management.

· Customer Performance Analysis: analyze customer retention and provide recommendations to marketing regarding expected future customer behavior and its impact on the profitability of individual marketing campaigns. 

· Financial Management: work with marketing, operations, IT, and product development to ensure that all assumptions used by marketing to manage promotions and drive financial projections are accurate or based on best estimates.  Monitor and evaluate overall spending with focus on promotion spending to ensure adherence to approved plans as well as established guidelines for marketing activities.

· Financial Position Reporting: analyze and communicate monthly results as well as operational issues to Marketing and Finance

· IT Support: Work with IT, Accounting and Ops groups to assist with the transition of order fulfillment and financial management systems.  Includes the development of new tools for backend analysis and financial reporting.

· Month End Close: assist accounting team in the preparation and evaluation of various month end close entries. 

· Staff Management and Development: provide daily direction and guidance to 2 Financial Analysts.  Ensure that responsibilities are clearly articulated, understood, and carried out.  Provide coaching, mentoring and career guidance.



Qualifications:

 

·  7 years of finance experience required; management experience preferred

·  Bachelor’s degree is required; MBA or CPA preferred

·  Expert knowledge of MS Windows, MS Excel and MS Access required

·  Knowledge of Oracle, and COGNOS Powerplay is highly desired

·  Overall ability to adapt quickly to new requirements and manage multiple issues will be critical

·  Strong analytical skills required·  Experience working with internal client groups and presenting to senior management is essential
