Financial Operations Analyst Senior - HMC*this position will be filled in Richmond, VA
The Financial Operations Analyst Senior will be part of the HMC Billing Department.This person will be responsible for ensuring the highest level of data integrity possible by supporting analysis and assisting with new processes, system enhancements and technical solutions to complex business issues. In addition, the position is responsible for completing financial activities for the purpose of accurate and timely reporting both internally and externally. Essential duties to include, but are not limited to: The primary focus of this position will be on HMC billing. Executes complex data analysis and provides input on how decision support systems will supply data required to make effective business decisions. Maintains strategic report applications from Finance systems. Supports accurate balance sheet/P&L reporting. Participates in IT related projects. Assists in implementation of application software releases within Finance. Participates with other areas to ensure comprehensive and accurate reporting. Maintains documentation of all exceptions and leads communication with all areas to ensure accuracy of data on an ongoing basis. Provides recommendations based on analysis of the data, business situation, and full knowledge of WellPoint systems. Performs other duties as assigned. The ideal candidate will have:BS/BA degree required with a concentration in Finance or Accounting preferred. Working toward MBA degree or CPA, CMA, CFA or applicable professional designation is preferred. 2+ years experience in a finance/health insurance field capacity preferred. Experience with relational databases. 1-2 years demonstrated experience working in or with SQL, Access, COBOL, SAS, Business Objects or other advanced reporting tools. Working knowledge of health products, benefits and systems including, claims, membership, billing, Data Warehouse and Financial systems are preferred. Proficient with mainframe and client server report writers. Knowledge of internal controls. Applies strong analytical skills and business knowledge to provide needed data, and ensure accuracy and reasonableness required. Strong PC skills, mathematical aptitude, problem solving, conceptual, and analytical ability required. Strong written and communication skills required.
