Fixed Assets Accountant

Direct the accurate and timely recording of the fixed assets acquired. Set-up and ensure the timely and accurate computation of the depreciation and amortization expenses relevant to Brinker’s fixed assets. Execute the retirement of all disposed or fully depreciated assets. Research net book values. • Create all new fixed assets from constructions and/or acquisitions. • Review remodel schedules submitted by Facilities and close all remodel projects. • Prepare monthly reconcilements and monitor key accounts. • Communicate and interpret capital policy as it relates to the remodeling of existing units as well as replacement FF&E. • Year End and Quarter End audit schedules. • Direct the accurate and timely recording of all fixed assets disposals. • Create necessary allocation costs as well as reclass requests from P&L to capital accounts and vice versa. • Review deferred costs for sites that have not yet received final site approval. Interact with Corporate Development to ensure accuracy of information. • Record dead site accruals for accurate expensing of budgeted costs by concept. Complete write-off of dead site costs. Review monthly activity to ensure proper matching of budget allocations to expenses. • Worth closely with the Distribution Center and JDE team members to assist in issues relating to new item setup, price changes, and cost changes as they relate to capital items. • Utilize AS400 and MS Query to troubleshoot system issues • Complete special projects and analysis as requested. Education/Training: • College degree in Accounting and/or Finance or Equivalent Relevant Work Experience. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: • Display knowledge of accounting principles, Brinker Capitalization policy and Retirement policy; ability to apply principles to job responsibilities. • Have strong computer skills; working knowledge in mainframe and Windows environment (Query a plus). • Possess a strong knowledge of system procedures relating to general ledger and payables processing, project management and fixed asset systems. • Strong Team skills • Display attention to detail with consistent accuracy. • Exhibit excellent organizational skills; ability to effectively work on multiple questions/requests concurrently. • Possess good oral and written communication skills; ability to communicate successfully with customer departments and Operations; use tact and diplomacy. • Display working knowledge of Brinker accounting system relating to procedures for processing information from Operations and Corporate. • Excels at working independently; ability to handle responsibilities and/or problems with little supervision. • Possess excellent time management skills to complete all responsibilities; ability to identify and eliminate low return tasks. • Display knowledge of accounting principles (i.e., Brinker’s Capitalization and Retirement Policy); ability to apply principles to job responsibilities.
