Fixed Income Trader I

SUMMARY:

Processes fixed income brokerage transactions / inquiries for and on behalf of NFP Securities registered representative population clearing said transactions through NFS and Pershing.

 ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:Answer phone calls from registered representatives (RRs) and make outbound calls to RR regarding trading ideas and maturing securities.Search for bonds based on parameters given by RRsConstruct bond ladders based on parameters given by RRs.Process fixed income transactions for RRs, buy/sell bonds for client accounts.Monitor/maintain the fixed riskless income principal account.Process/document market and non market corrections for fixed income trades (as determined by the Manager/Supervisor).Review and notify RRs of fixed income securities maturing in client accounts.Process account inquiries and research and correct Trade Fails.Verify DVP trades with the contra and institution on trade date.Process margin calculations including initial margin and maintenance margin calculations.Process web enacted transactions via NFS and Pershing as needed.Enter, maintain and reconcile daily and monthly trade reports and blotters.Provide basic interpretation of markets and trading practices.Perform brokerage trader administration assistant duties when needed including back-up and additional support to other members of Brokerage Trading department.Commitment to culture requires a demonstration of professionalism, accountability, customer/client focus, and teamwork.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND/OR ABILITIES:

 Basic knowledge and understanding of securities markets, products and services, particularly in the fixed income area. Basic computer skills; Outlook, Word, Excel, Internet and operating in a Windows based environment, Bloomberg knowledge helpful. Must be able to perform duties accurately and timely.  Routinely exercise judgment with respect to suitability of transaction and related charges.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: 

 

College degree preferred (industry experience may substitute for this).  Fixed income industry experience required.

 

CERTIFICATES, LLICENSES, REGISTRATION: 

Series 7 & 63 required.  Must obtain Series 55 within 90 days of hire.
