Full Charge Bookkeeper/Accountant

Clipper Oil is a worldwide wholesaler of marine fuels and lubricant oils. The company operates internationally from our worldwide headquarters in San Diego.

Our office has a current opening for a full-time Bookkeeper/Accountant. This is a great position in a casual but hard-working office environment. This is a very small, fast-paced office with shifting priorities and a team dedicated to the rewarding mission of our organization.

This position includes: A/R, A/P, billing, reporting and analysis, payroll, billing, bank reconciliations, cash flow forecasts management and experience preparing financial statements. Ideal candidates will think outside of the box and identify and implement cost effective accounting initiatives.


Duties
• Perform professional accounting duties in the analysis, preparation, and maintenance of financial records and reports .
• Manage all physical inventory counts and identify, troubleshoot, and resolve inventory related problems.
• Perform regular audits to ensure timely, accurate, and consistent reporting of financial results.
• This position is responsible for period-end, year-end closing and reporting.
• Coordinate end of year tax preparation for CPA and assist with annual audit


Day-to-Day Responsibilities will include (but not limited to):
• A/P, A/R collections, receipt of goods
• Tracking process / inventory costing
• Banking and Weekly Cash Flow Management
• Bank Reconciliations
• Prepare and make company deposits
• Investment Management
• Financial Reporting
• Inventory management and determining book-to-physical adjustments.
• Weekly Financial Statements (Balance Sheet, P&L, etc.)
• Payroll (Paychex)


Requirements/Skills to include:
• Bachelors Degree with a major in Finance or Accounting.
• Two years of professional accounting experience and proven track record preferred.
• Strong experience with Microsoft Office applications. (especially Outlook & Excel)
• Advanced skill level with QuickBooks
• Must have strong analytical skills and understand complex principles and practices of accounting.
• Must be able to read, prepare and interpret financial statements.
• Must possess the ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects and to deal with ever changing priorities.
• Must be comfortable with collection calls as needed
• A positive and hardworking attitude is a must. Must be customer service oriented.
• High attention to detail, focus, and accuracy is required
• Ability to evaluate operational and administrative problems and formulate effective strategies and solutions
• Team player with excellent verbal and written communication skills and strong analytical and organizational skills and be able to manage multiple tasks..
• Willingness to wear multiple hats and care for the overall business as we do

Full-time benefit eligible position.
Hours are 8:00AM to 5:00PM
Salary commensurate with experience
