Road Machinery is seeking a General Accountant (CPA)

General Summary:

Applies the principles of accounting within an assigned area of accounting for US and Mexican business operations. Compiles financial information, processes journal entries into various accounts, and reconciles reports and fmancial data. Some familiarity with and an awareness of the laws and regulations that apply to an accounting function are required to ensure compliance for both US and Mexican Accounting. Possesses general knowledge of financial accounting systems.

Essential Job Functions:

Compiles financial information and assists in the preparation of reports for US and Mexican business operations.

Records, classifies, and summarizes financial transactions and events in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles.

Keeps abreast of laws and regulations that apply to a particular staff function or field of professional expertise to maintain up-to-date compliance.

Initiates and processes journal entries into various accounts.

Reconciles sub-ledgers to the general ledger and resolves differences. Reconciles Mexican Tax books to US GAAP books to assure continuity of financial information for company-wide consolidations.

Provides information to management to explain accounting transactions in a way management can understand the accounting function.

Uses various software applications, such as spreadsheets, relational databases, statistical packages, and graphics packages to assemble, manipulate and/or format data and/or reports.

Applies a working knowledge of applicable laws and regulations; verifies documents for completeness and compliance with government and private agencies.

Scope of Responsibility:

Knows the formal and informal departmental goals, standards, policies and procedures which may include some familiarity of other departments within the branch or division. Is sensitive to the interrelationship of both people and functions within the department.

Decision Making:

On a regular and continuous basis, exercises administrative judgment and assumes responsibility for decisions, consequences, and results having an impact on people, costs, and/or quality of service within the functional area.

Communication:

Exchanges non-routine information using tact and persuasion as appropriate requiring good oral and written communication skills. Must be bilingual to assure consistent communication with US and Mexican business units.

Required: Four-year degree in Business, Economics, Finance or other related financial/managerial discipline. Preferred: Bachelor's degree in accounting, business, or related field

Experience:

Minimum three years related work experience required. Prefer international accounting experience. Additional education may be substituted for experience. Proficiency in the use of software applications, databases, spreadsheets, and/ or word processing required.

Certification:

Certified Public Accountant, Certified Managerial Accountant
