General Ledger Accounting Manager

Responsible for accuracy and the completeness of the Company’s General Ledger System. This will include overseeing all data entry, reconciliation, and translation into the financial statement package.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  Oversee multi-entity general ledger systems, including data transfers from external systems

  Verify general journal transactions

  Supervise and/or prepare account reconciliations, including responsibility for addressing reconciling items

  Validate accounts receivables balances for over two hundred clients

  Establish and administer general ledger processes and procedures

  Meet financial statement preparation deadlines

  Act as a primary contact for annual audits

Have a working knowledge of GAAP and FASB guidelines and procedures

  Serve as subject matter expert during system conversion, including determining specifications, programming testing, and implementation

 Knowledge of document retention practices

Supervise three staff accountants and three clerks

 

 



Competencies

 

o Strong Reconciliation and Analytical Skills

o Excellent core accounting, general ledger, and cash reconciliation knowledge

o Clear Understanding of Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable processes

o Previous experience working with external auditors

 Oriented toward team goals as well as individual objectives

 As we are going through a system conversion, the ideal candidate must have good trouble-shooting skills and reasoning capabilities.  Must be able to define, evaluate, and adjust processes and procedures.

 5 -7 years' general ledger and accounts receivable experience with supervisory responsibilities.

 2-3 years' public accounting

 CPA, a plus 

 Must be a self-starter and be able to work with limited supervision

 Strong Excel

 Access, a plus

 Good communications skills with various levels of management, both written and verbal. 

 Good supervisory skills with staff of varying knowledge levels
