The CFO Services Principal or Senior Manager wins and delivers CFO services consulting engagements in the local office area.
The level of this position is expected to be either Senior Manager or Principal, with responsibility for generating/managing $750,000 - $1.5 million per year in revenue, from initial sales pursuit and engagement strategy through the completion of the deliverables.
He/she will analyze the strategic and tactical needs of clients and develop and manage deliverable solutions to address those needs.
This position will grow, develop, and manage a team of business consultants as well as define consulting projects, arrange work, staff teams, achieve profitability goals, develop personnel and ensure client satisfaction.
Senior Managers and Principals typically fill the role of Client Engagement Manager or Account Manager. In some cases, however, they may be asked to share their experience in the role of Project Team Member.
They should be able to plan and guide multiple complex projects and provide thought-leadership in all roles. Senior Managers and
Principals have deep skills in at least two of the following areas:
• Management of consulting projects and people
• Business development for a professional services firm
• Subject matter expertise in a specialized area valued by our market
Position Requirements:
• 10+ years professional experience, including a least five (5) years recent experience in a management role within a large or mid-sized consulting services organization in/near the city where the role is based.
• Excellent judgment combined with solid understanding of current business issues related to the CFO function.
• Candidates must demonstrate work experience in Financial Management, Account Management, project management, strategy and planning, forecasting, budgeting, operational analysis and analytical techniques. Candidates will have experience in helping Finance organizations design and implement finance, accounting, process improvement, financial reporting and technology solutions across the enterprise.
• Bachelor's degree required with a strong preference for focus in MIS, accounting, or business. Related master's degree preferred.
• CPA a plus
General consulting skills required:
• A demonstrated track record of successful consulting engagement management experience; including directing other staff members and having a major role in managing and interfacing with senior level client executives.
• Ability to establish immediate credibility with clients and within the company; can build consensus and achieve goals through influence versus direct line authority.
• Ability to balance the demands of multiple client assignments and staff development while pushing the intellectual envelope in search of solutions to complex problems.
• Excellent interpersonal/communication skills with professional staff, senior level executives and the community at large.
• Creative thinking and seeking innovative solutions to complex technical/business problems.
• An entrepreneur with the ability to develop his/her practice area within a larger organization by leveraging existing resources and capabilities in new and unique ways to achieve success.
• Able to leave his/her ego at the door and achieve goals in a collaborative work environment.
Accounting/Finance Experience/Skills (at least 2 of the following required)
• Financial Performance improvement
• Financial Reporting
• ERP Financial Systems
• Business Intelligence (as it relates to CFO agenda)
• Forecasting, Planning, Budgeting & Analysis
• General accounting (Chart of Accounts, accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger)
• Business Process Outsourcing related to CFO or accounting function
• Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
