High Level-Assistant Controller needed

A growing company in Dallas is seeking a very hands-on Assistant Controller to join their growing team.  This individual must have reengineered an accounting department and has implemented processes and proceduresResponsibilities: - Administration of the monthly close process for the consolidated entity. - Review and posting of journal entries. - Research and implementation of new accounting pronouncements as released by the relevant reporting entities (SEC, EITF, FASB, etc.) - Management of professional level staff in the general accounting area. - Review and analysis of financial statements at both the consolidated and individual station level relative to budget and comparative periods. - Administration of annual audits and quarterly reviews as preformed by external auditors. - Ensure compliance with all SOX requirements as it relates to the internal control environment. - Ensure the timely completion and accuracy of all general ledger account reconciliations on a monthly basis. - Work closely with the operational departments to ensure that all financial transactions are captured and properly recorded in appropriate accounting period. - Continuous process re-engineering of existing accounting processes and procedures to eliminate non value added activities, reduce processing time and eliminate manual intervention. - Continuous evaluation of control activities and processes performed by the general accounting area to determine more efficient and effective means of achieving the control objective. Experience: - Prior exposure with ERP systems or second-tier accounting applications (Solomon, Great Plains, Oracle, PeopleSoft, SAP, JD Edwards) - Excellent oral and written communication skills - Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Accounting - CPA required - Big 4 public accounting experience preferred - Prior experience administering the monthly close - Excellent problem solving abilities - Self-starter and highly motivated - Facilitates and identifies areas for continued process improvement and reduction in operational inefficiencies. - Minimum 5-7 years of direct experience managing an accounting department and related month-end closing proceduresPlease submit a copy of your Word resume to rami.muhanna@parkerlynch.com for immediate consideration.  Only qualified candidates will be contacted.
