INSURANCE BROKER (RISK MANAGER)
RISK MANAGEMENT SUPERVISOR
This industry leader is a privately held, diversified global manufacturing company headquartered in Auburn Hills, Michigan, with leading positions in float glass, fabricated glass products, fiberglass insulation and other building materials for commercial, residential and automotive markets. This company, its subsidiaries and affiliates employ 19,000 people and operate facilities throughout North America, Europe, South America, Asia, Africa and the Middle East.
The Risk Management Department consists of a Director of Risk Management, 2 Risk Management Supervisors, and a Loss Control Manager. The department reports to the Treasurer and is considered a part of the Finance Department. One Administrative Assistant is shared by all members of the Finance Dept.
The supervisors will be handling a variety of property/casualty/surety insurance functions, including analysis of risk exposures, reviewing contracts, handling certificate of insurance requests, preparation of underwriting information for renewals, negotiation of insurance programs, reviewing insurance policies for accuracy, giving advice on claims issues and day to day administration of insurance issues.
All insurance programs are purchased on a global basis. Renewals are in May and June, necessitating travel to insurance markets in the first half of the year. Trips to visit underwriters in London, Bermuda and Chicago would most likely be required.
In addition, the person would participate in the loss control/safety function by conducting audits each year at the company plants worldwide. Each person would be assigned a list of plants to visit between Sept. 1 and Dec. 1. We are currently visiting 50 locations, so with 4 people in the dept., each person would be assigned 12-13 locations to visit. Each plant visit is one full day, with travel time in addition. The person will be traveling to these plants by themselves. Approx. time on the road during these months would be 20 - 25 days once travel time is included.
We would like individuals who want to broaden their knowledge of risk management concepts, with the long term goal of developing into a more responsible position within the department. The person must be a self starter. Performance is judged based on the initiative of the individual, and the value they add to the corporation.
