Immediate Opportunity for experienced Financial Analyst

The Business Analyst position has overall responsibility and accountability for understanding and communicating its respective product line’s financial position.  It is also responsible for providing financial support to the VP/GM of the sales channel by creating and maintaining periodic reports that analyze and communicate actual performance and the implications of ongoing business decisions as well as forecasting future performance.  The Business Analyst position is the critical link between the sales and marketing and product line operations groups and provides valuable insight on a daily basis to the financial performance through its analysis and reporting. Key Operational Responsibilities: Reporting and Analysis:§ Preparation of timely and accurate financial reports to management§ Interpretation and communication of financial performance, implications, recommendations§ Cash flow analysis – line extensions, new products, etc.§ Pricing and cost analysis – impact on volumes and margins§ Profitability analysis of specific products and programs§ Various ad hoc analysis including reviewing proposals for major capital expenditures relative to their conformity with corporate planning and economic justification, finished goods sourcing economic/financial analysis, resource allocation recommendation§ Evaluation of new products, make-or-buy, etc. Planning and Forecasting:§ Provide annual projections, periodic forecasts, and business architecture (profitability per channel/platform/market) analyses as required§ Investment request analysis§ Lead completion of the 3-year strategic plan§  “Closing the Gap” activities regarding the business financial targets – exploring all alternatives§ Active member of the PCP process§ Financial assistance in CIP program Understanding company accounting policies and procedures and making informed business decisions according to policy is an underlying responsibility of all financial personnel.  Competencies desired:  5-7 years experience in a Financial Analyst/Forecasting role Robust business understanding Financial analysis experience including sales trends analysis customer and consumer marketing analysis resource allocation analysis capital investment analysis Strong analytical, planning, and organizational skills Solid understanding of accounting and financial concepts Experience working with and advising senior management of financial and business strategies Highly motivated / Driven / Proactive approach to business needs Strong interpersonal skills Ability to adjust/react quickly to changes and changing priorities Ability to drive change Unquestionable business ethics and integrity Structured, operative, pragmatic attitude and approach to tasks College degree with emphasis in finance Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Cognos or Hyperion experience preferred, and JD Edwards or Peoplesoft knowledge a plus Some experience in Marketing/Sales a plus  Since 1946, Spherion has been helping talented individuals find rewarding job opportunities that drive excellence in their career.
