Information Assurance Engineer -Network Security-

We seek the following position:

Information Assurance Engineer - Network Security-

Location: McLean, VA
(MUST BE A US CITIZEN WITH AN ACTIVE INTERIM TS CLEARANCE AT A MINIMUM)

Education:  Bachelor's degree or equivalent and 5+ year’s general information systems security experience.

EDUCATION / WORK EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION:  A Bachelor of Sciences degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, and/or Engineering may be considered equivalent to two (2) years general experience and one (1) year IA specialized experience.  An Information Certificate from a nationally recognized information systems security organization (ISC², ISACA, GIAC, SSCP, etc.) may be considered equivalent to three years generalized and three years specialized experience.

Security Requirements:  Minimum Interim Top Secret, based on SSBI  Final TS/SCI preferred

Certification Requirements:  IAT Level II certification required per DoD 8570.1, Level III preferred.

Technical Skills/Certifications Needed:

Required Skills:

IAT Level II certification required per DoD 8570.1, Level III preferred.

General information systems engineering experience with systems administration/implementation experience in Windows 2K/XP/2K3 and Active Directory environments required.

Strong oral/written communication and customer interface skills a necessity.

 Desired Skills:

Experience with the following: DISA Gold Disk, Retina,

ISS Internet Scanner and Harris STAT.

Military or federal government experience is preferred.

Desirable to have project experience in a variety of system engineering disciplines such as backup and recovery, failover and clustering, system and network security, performance engineering and capacity planning, and scripting/system programming.

This position requires a minimum of an IAT Level II certification, Level III preferred.

The table below represents the DoD8570.1 approved baseline certifications for Information Assurance Technical (IAT) and Information Assurance Manager (IAM) personnel.

 Job Responsibilities and Work Environment:

Job Description:

Participates as a member of integrated teams providing information assurance/information systems security (INFOSEC) audit support.

Performs risk assessments and security testing, analyzes system security on Windows 2K/XP/2K3 systems, network devices (firewalls, routers, and switches), web server and database applications.

Understands and applies knowledge of INFOSEC principles to network protocols, architectures, equipment, services, standards and technology. Support includes infrastructure, IA and CND assessments, supporting the Certification and Accreditation (C&A) process for IT systems and networks including preparation of key documentation and planning and conducting security test and evaluation (ST&E), analytical and systems engineering for development of strategic plans and security architectures for DOD activities.

When required, develops or analyzes Information Systems Security requirements.

Travel from 25-50% of the time can be expected.
