Internal (Financial) Auditor

The Financial Auditor is responsible for performing various internal audit activities.  This position works closely with the Internal Audit Director and Information Technology (IT) Auditor to successfully complete the objectives outlined in the Arctic Slope Regional Corporation (ASRC) audit charter and the annual internal audit plan.  The individual must be able to work independently under the general direction of the Internal Audit Director completing projects in compliance with professional audit standards; and perform other duties as assigned.

 

Specific Requirements:



With some direction from the Internal Audit Director, the Financial Auditor will develop internal audit work plans, perform research on audit areas in order to assess business risk by analyzing the control environment; develop audit programs (internal audit procedures) for a variety of financial, operational, and compliance audits; and conduct audit tests.  The candidate must be able to develop work papers, identify and report issues; identify and evaluate business risks, work with management to develop practical, business-oriented, solutions/comments/recommendations; and prepare audit reports.  The incumbent will communicate audit observations and work with management to devise appropriate corrective actions to strengthen internal controls and policies and to help management devise more effective and efficient processes.  The auditor will work in various workgroups to provide assessments of risk and advice on internal controls.  The auditor’s work must be documented according to department standards including planning, fieldwork, reporting, project time and expenses.

 

Candidates Must Possess



· A bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance and at least five years internal audit, external audit, and/or consulting experience.

· The ability to interpret financial and operational data is required.  Must be able to demonstrate a solid grasp of business concepts, realistic judgment, quantitative and critical thinking skills.

· Have Knowledge of GAAP, SOX, COSO framework, the IIA Professional Standards and Code of Ethics for professional conduct of audits is required.

· Strong analytical, presentation, interpersonal and written/oral communication skills.

· Project management and leadership skills are essential.

· Word and EXCEL skills are required; Visio flowcharting skills are required; experience with ACL and statistical sampling is desired.

· An MBA, CPA, CIA, or CFE preferred and participation in the local Chapter of the Institute of Internal Audit is expected.

· Experience with Oracle and Deltek a major plus.  Experience with Control Self Assessment (CSA) a major plus. 

· Exposure to construction, oil and gas, government contracting and the Defense Contract Audit Agency (DCAA) a major plus. 

· The ability to travel up to 30% outside of Anchorage, AK.

· A valid drivers license is required.
