Loan Specialist

POSITION CHARACTERISTICS:This position provides administrative and operational support to the Branch Small Business Development Officer in the processing of loan applications and credit file packaging for new small business loan clients. Ensures new client loan applications and required credit documentation files are accurate and complete, packages the loan application and required credit information, and sends completed loan application packages to the Loan Processing Unit for final decision and approval. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:• Gathers information from new small business loan clients to assist them in completing loan applications and assembling required credit and business information. • Organizes loan applications and required credit information according to established procedures, and packages the application and all required credit and business information.• Submits packaged application and necessary credit documents for final approval to the Loan Processing Unit (LPU). Refers larger-sized loans and certain SBA loans to the appropriate internal unit for investigation and follow-up.• Assists clients and prospects in completing loan applications and works with branch small business team to review credit specifications.• May accompany Branch Small Business Development Officer on new client meetings to obtain required business and credit information on the client, and to become familiar with the client’s business. • Regularly tracks the stages of active and pending loans.• Develops and prepares reports and records relating to small business loans as required.• Establishes and maintains appropriate files and records for loan documents.SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ATTRIBUTES REQUIRED:• Thorough understanding of accounting and legal principles underlying the bank’s documents.• Strong analytical skills.• Strong problem-solving and follow-up skills. • Computer literate; fluency in Microsoft Office programs.• Effective organizational, oral and written communication skills.• Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously, managing time and resources to ensure work is completed efficiently and within established timeframes.• Exhibit adaptability in a team oriented environment.• Credit experience strongly preferred.ACADEMIC BACKGROUND AND EXPERIENCE:• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration preferred• 2 years of related work experience We are proud to be an EEO/AA employer M/F/D/V.
