 The Colorado Office of the State Auditor (OSA) is currently seeing a Local Government Analyst.  In the role of Local Government Analyst, you will be responsible for:Reviewing local government audits and exemption from audit forms for compliance with state regulations and accounting standards.Providing technical assistance and answer questions from local governments and CPA's.Working with local government representatives to analyze data and collect background information to determine compliance with statutes or accounting standards. Monitoring contractors for selected audits conducted by the Office of the State Auditor.Educating local governments regarding regulations and accounting standards to which they are subject.Conducting in-house training courses for audit staff; making presentations to the Legislative Audit Committee, external organizations and professional associations.  Using database management programs to analyze data and extract reports.

 Qualifications:Bachelors degree in Accounting, or a related field.Minimum of two years of governmental accounting or finance experience, or two years in public accounting with responsibility for auditing local governments.Candidates must be knowledgeable of GASB standards.Be detail oriented and computer literate, with working knowledge of software including Word, Excel, Access, and Crystal Reports.Previous experience as an accountant or auditor in a local government setting is preferred, including experience with preparing local government financial statements or the CAFR.  CPA certification preferred.
