The Logistics Specialist is responsible for the freight payment and audit process and manages the freight claims process from filing with the carriers to resolution and collection.

 

Specific responsibilities include:Manages the freight payment and invoice resolution process.  This may require contacting carriers about rates, resolving invoices rejected online by pay agent, resolving paper invoices, working with Purchasing for inbound shipment information, and identifying issues with pay agent that will save processing time and expense.Coordinates the freight claim process with the carriers: initiating claims, corresponding, negotiating and resolution.  Identifies areas with recurring claim issues and work with carriers and internal departments to resolve the issues causing claims.Manages the Premium Freight Process, which requires providing shipping options to Internal Departmental Representatives to guarantee on-time customer deliveries at the lowest landed cost while maintaining delivery requirements.Utilizes internal tracking systems to identify penalty and chargeback issues.  Works with carriers, customers, and internal departments to resolve recurring issues.  Reports progress as required.Continual process analysis and improvement to ensure the use of proper transportation methods, reducing freight costs where possible and decreasing delivery time within the supply chain.  Provide carrier reports as required.Acts as the departmental liaison with the freight carriers.  Provide problem resolution to the teams and carriers alike.

 

Minimum qualifications:Bachelor’s degree preferred or comparable work experience.4-6 years of related experience, preferably in Logistics arena.  Accounting, customer service knowledge and manufacturing background are desirable. Very strong analytical skills.  Demonstrated ability to effectively utilize IBM PC compatible computer, including Windows, Word, Excel and Access.  Must have an understanding of relational databases.
