MA - Revenue Forecast Analyst

1.  Role and Scope of Position:

This position performs various assignments pertaining to the development of daily, monthly and annual electric and gas revenue forecasts.  Performs analyses to evaluate the impact of weather on load.  Performs analyses to determine and explain the impact of price and consumption changes on revenue.  Runs computer simulations and prepares customer usage reports to support revenue forecasting and weather normalization functions.  Performs various assignments to support the rate design function.

 

2.  Essential Functions:

*  Develops gas and electric revenue forecasts for short-term, mid-term and long-term using specially developed computer modeling tools.

*  Provides technical and analytical support for collecting, verifying and analyzing data for populating and maintaining databases for revenue forecasting modeling tools.

*  Provides analytical support to assist in the evaluation and design of revenue forecasting modeling tools.

*  Runs computer simulations and develops solutions in support of revenue forecasting and variance analysis.

*  Analyzes weather data and evaluates the impact on monthly consumption and revenue for gas and electricity.

*  Analyzes price changes to determine the impact on gas and electric revenue forecasts.  Performs analyses to explain variances between actual revenue and forecast revenue.

*  Performs various quantitative analyses in support of the rate design function.

 

3.  Technical Knowledge/Skill/Education/Licenses/Certifications:

*  Technical Knowledge/Skill:  Requires excellent quantitative and analytical skills including familiarity with statistics and modeling techniques, along with good oral and written communication skills.  Ability to use PC desktop applications (e.g., Microsoft Office tools and database management) and some commercially available statistical software programs is required.

*  Education:  Requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Statistics, Economics, Mathematics, Engineering, Business Science, related discipline or equivalent experience.

*  Experience:  Minimum of three (3) years related experience preferred.
