MANAGER OF FINANCIAL REPORTING

RiverPoint is currently seeking a Financial Reporting Manager for a full time permanent opening with one of our clients in Galveston, TX.

 

Our client is seeking a team-oriented individual to assist the financial reporting department with reporting, research, and analysis. This individual will report to the Director of Financial Reporting and will be instrumental in monitoring and driving the various business segments to ensure ongoing improved US GAAP and SEC reporting compliance including compliance with Sarbanes Oxley.

 

Duties:

 

· Preparing consolidated and legal entity financial statements for internal management.

· Preparing consolidated SEC financial statements

· Researching and documenting technical accounting issues.

· Communicating new and existing accounting standards and Company accounting positions and policies to subsidiary CFO's and staff

· Ensuring timely implementation of US GAAP and SEC reporting standards.

· Assisting with accounting due diligence and integration of mergers & acquisitions.

· Assisting Director of Financial Reporting in identifying financial & operational initiatives as best practices to drive in the Company.

· Assisting Director of Financial Reporting in identifying, developing and implementing internal controls in compliance for Sarbanes Oxley.

· Managing project to drive overall success of department goal and initiatives.

· Mentoring, training and developing financial reporting staff.

· Contributing to the development, financial and operational plans to drive growth, productivity, and profitability.

 Required Skills:

 

· BA/BS in Accounting

· CPA preferred In order to qualify for consideration of this position candidate should have 3 - 5 years of experience in:

· Researching technical accounting issues

· Drafting an initial position paper on US GAAP accounting issues.

· Identifying new accounting issues.

· Writing and reviewing SEC 10Q, 10K, 8K filings

· Willingness and flexibility to work late when projects demand (Average 50 hour workweek)

· Minimum 2 plus years in public accounting (preferably big 4 or second tier firms) OR minimum 4 years corporate accounting in financial reporting department

· Insurance industry a plus
