Manager Cash Denials & Underpayment Management

Under the general direction of the Director of Patient Financial Services, the Manager of Cash Denials and Underpayment Management Services has the overall responsibility for the efficiency and effectiveness of all cash management, denials management and underpayment management processes. This position is a key stakeholder in Patient Financial Services and the Revenue Cycle at PPH and therefore is responsible for all the cash management, denials management, and underpayment revenue cycle related processes for Patient Financial Services. Within this department the Manager of Cash, Denials and Underpayment Management Services has responsibility for the Cash Management Unit, Denials Management Unit and Underpayment Unit. The Manager of Cash, Denials and Underpayment Management Services is responsible for the success of the following key indicators recognized within PPH revenue cycle; payments posted within 24 hours, adjustments posted within 48 hours, denials as a percentage of collections, denials as a percentage of billed claims, credit balances less than 2 days A/R and recovery of underpayments as a percentage of underpayments. The Manager of Cash, Denials and Underpayment Management Services is responsible for the management, coordination, planning and evaluation of the functions and activities throughout the organization related to cash management, denials management and underpayment management. The Manager of Cash, Denials and Underpayment Management Services is responsible for direct supervision of the Cash Management Supervisor, the Denials Management Supervisor and the Underpayment Analysts and assists with oversight and direction for the budgeted employees within the two units. Responsibilities include assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating all aspects of cash, denials and underpayment services delivered; ensuring quality programs and a level of customer service that strives to exceed internal and external customer expectations; and develops strong relationships with primary customers. The Manager of Cash, Denials and Underpayment Management Services is responsible to ensure that all cash collection, denial processing and underpayment processes are in compliance with regulatory guidelines. The Manager of Cash, Denials and Underpayment Management Services is to stay current on all new and changed regulatory requirements. The Manager practices excellent employee relations, attention to employee needs, develops and mentors a high performing management team for all areas of responsibility.
Must have Bachelor's degree or completion within two years of hire with four years healthcare and three years management experience and patient accounting experience; CPAM (Certified Patient Accounting Management) or equivalent obtained within one year of hire.
