Manager, Enterprise Risk Management

The Risk Management Department is responsible for establishing an enterprise risk management process and assisting management in identifying, prioritizing, establishing tolerances, mitigating, measuring, and documenting significant risks to the company. The department is also responsible for managing catastrophe risk by monitoring and mitigating our exposure to protect RLI surplus and by providing underwriting tools to profitably write catastrophe business. This individual is responsible for coordinating risk assessments within various business units and processes, assisting with the documentation of risks, identification of appropriate metrics, and documentation of current and planned mitigation. This position is also responsible for developing communications to the Risk Committee, including the ERM scorecard, summarizing our significant risks. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following: • Complete risk assessments with subject matter experts by leading multi-functional conversations to thoroughly analyze RLI’s significant risks. Document the risks identified, help identify ways to measure risks, document the current and planned mitigation of risks. • Facilitate the analysis of emerging risks by developing a method of identifying potential risks, organizing a discussion group to review the potential impact to the company, and presenting the group’s results and any recommendations to the Risk Committee. • Provide necessary risk information/reports as required for senior management, Audit Committee, business units and adhoc projects. • Monitor/interact with audit and other reviews performed to identify risk themes that need to be addressed. • Create/automate monthly scorecard to monitor significant risks to the company. • Stay current on ERM developments, revise our process as necessary, and maintain/update documentation of the ERM process. Bachelor's degree in business or related field with a minimum 3.0/4.0 GPA preferred. Knowledge of insurance and RLI processes is preferred. 5 – 7 years of general business experience is required.
