Manager, Financial Reporting

A.T. Massey Coal Company, Inc. is seeking a Manager of Financial Reporting for its corporate office located in Richmond, VA. 



Duties: Manage Financial Reporting Department in consolidation and reporting of results of Massey Energy Company and its subsidiary companies.  Ensure accurate and timely record-keeping in accordance with US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) regulations.  Act as primary contact for external auditors. Direct efforts surrounding the quarterly and annual reporting requirements to the SEC.  Ensure all reports are submitted timely and in accordance with SEC rules. Supervise and mentor financial reporting analyst. Oversee FAS 143 liability and associated database.

Requirements: Bachelor's degree with major in accounting. Post-graduate degree helpful. 6-12 years experience in accounting in medium to large corporations, preferably public and in the extractive industry. CPA required. Public accounting experience desirable.

Skills:Working knowledge of SEC reporting requirements and rules. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, English language and business etiquette. Experience with Lawson general ledger software and Hyperion software is desirable. Strong analytical skills, excellent quantitative, organizational and communication skills required.

Abilities:

o This position requires overtime work to ensure reporting deadlines are achieved.  In addition, overtime will be required during yearend closing and reporting period.

o Limited travel required.
