The role of Manager, Procurement System Applications is to serve as a cross functional liaison among the various levels of IT, Finance and Human Resources to ensure that operational and strategic goals of procurement application technology are met. This position will research and direct innovative Procurement application solutions necessary to meet EDMC business objectives. Development, maintenance and administration of the procurement application (Lawson) and all applicable interfaces ensuring data integrity will be a primary responsibility. Manager will be responsible for providing the user community with the appropriate tools, system access, and current system version releases and training. The ideal candidate would have operational and strategic expertise in Procurement with experience in designing and maintaining procurement applications, particularly Lawson products.

 

KEY JOB ELEMENTS:

1.  Develop, recommend and implement short and long term system application strategies to support EDMC’s procurement goals and objectives.

 

2.  Facilitate discussions on crucial topics among senior management and application development team to determine the goals and scope of procurement system projects, appropriate schedule and quality standards. Coordinate with other departments on any projects that impact procurement or that procurement is leading that impact other departments.

 

3.  Evaluate potential Procurement system application projects including writing or reviewing business processes and software requirements, third-party software, developing project justification and making recommendation on project prioritization and funding based on business value.

 

4.  Work closely with all levels of Procurement, Finance and IT to promote Procurement and e-Procurement tools to improve the Requisition/Purchase Order process, expenditure approvals, optimizing controls and eliminating unnecessary manual processes while adhering to Sarbanes-Oxley compliance.

 

5.  Serve as the Project Manager for all selection, upgrade, and enhancement design of current procurement system in conjunction with the Enterprise Support Application team and VP, Treasury and Procurement. Responsible for establishing a measurable work plan, determining project team participants and assignments, selection of outside support, establishing and monitoring of budgets, monitoring and reporting on project progress and identifying and mitigating project risks. Manage the work of others within the procurement department directly and indirectly as it relates to these projects and issues with systems and processing.

 

6.  Responsible for administration of system security for the ERP (Lawson) Procurement module, including security set-up and design, review and approval of new user requests. Direct quarterly review of security assignments in the module to ensure adherence with Company policy.

 

7.  Manage the requisition level approvals using new application tools such as Process Flow and Smart Notification within Lawson. This includes design and development of these work flows and automated notifications in conjunction with the IT Applications team and Senior Management.

 

8.  Plan, develop, design and execute end user training in both traditional instructor-

led classroom training format and computer/web based-training to cover a  geographically-dispersed audience.

 

9.    Coordinate and lead discussions with end users and IT to evaluate and develop

corrective actions necessary to resolve system issues. Responsibilities also include directing ongoing patch maintenance, development database refreshes and ongoing day to day system support. 

 

 

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

 

1.  A bachelor’s degree in business or supply chain management or minimum of 15 years work experience is required. An MBA or other advanced degree is preferred.

 

2.  Prior strategic sourcing knowledge and project management experience required with demonstrated technical aptitude in procurement systems development, support, reporting and automation of a service based organization.

 

3.  Must be self-reliant, self motivated and work with minimum supervision and direction with prior evidence of successful project and time management skills.

 

4.  Lawson ERP Procurement systems experience required with exposure to work flow, notification and dashboarding tools.

 

5.  The decisions and actions and data integrity of the procurement and financial systems require maturity, credibility and good judgment.

 

6.  Sound knowledge of accounting, procurement and financial systems utilization, and the ethics of the supplier/purchaser relationship.

 

7.  Objectivity, analytical thinking, and strong communication skills with extensive knowledge of ERP (Procurement) systems and system integrations.

 

8.  Travel requirements (approximately 10%)
