Medical Billing/Collections Specialist - Burbank, CA

Description Home Pharmacy of California, a Walgreens Home Care co., is a well-established JCAHO-accredited home infusion pharmacy serving Southern California. We are seeking top professionals who are interested in joining our fast-growing organization. Our on-going business growth and opportunities have created the need for additional experienced Medical Billing/Collections Specialists to join our Reimbursement team, located in Burbank. These positions will be responsible for collections from private pay insurance. Duties will include, but are not limited to: Collections for assigned private alpha payer groups, or as assigned Following up on open claims, utilizing aging reports, spreadsheets and/or other forms Reviewing payments for accuracy, contractual write-offs, and patient responsibilities Initiating and finalizing appeals for reconsideration Monitoring assigned payers for non-payment Responding to insurance correspondence in a timely manner Reviewing insurance claim forms for completeness and accuracy Researching missing claims information Reviewing insurance policies to determine coverage Assisting with claims submission Utilizing appropriate coding, billing units, diagnosis and other coding in calculating amounts of claims Requirements Qualifications: This position requires previous experience in A/R collections, preferably with pharmacy/medical claims; Blue Cross, Blue Shield and other private pay collections experience preferred. An AA degree is highly desired, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Must be detail-oriented with proven organizational, math, typing, 10-key, verbal and written communication, interpersonal and computer skills. Knowledge of medical terminology and insurance coding (certification would be a plus), and computer skills, including MS Word and Excel, Adobe and Internet are preferred.
