The Roanoke Plaza Hotel (soon to be part of the Starwood family) is looking for a few dedicated, talented, and experienced individuals who have demonstrated strong leadership and motivational skills to join our team.
Senior Staff Accountant
This position provides continuous leadership in the financial area of the hotel. This individual is also responsible for focusing on the profitability of the business, maintaining accurate and timely financial reporting, internal control, compliance with all federal, sate, and local regulations, and safeguarding the company’s assets. Additional responsibilities include supervising night audit, staffing, organizing, planning, and directing all activities to ensure efficient and successful financial operations.
Responsibilities:
• Supervise, manage and oversee the entire Accounting Office and Night Audit.
• Ensure all revenues are deposited timely
• Ensure hotels compliance on all regulatory licenses and permits, leases, contacts, legal agreements, and the proper execution of all operational taxes.
• Ensure that bank reconciliations are reconciled on a timely basis.
• Establish and continually audit all internal financial controls including purchasing, cash handling, disbursements, inventories, hotel assets, master keys, payroll, and team member records.
• Prepare, balance, and review daily reports.
• Provide management with operational reports.
• Ensure monthly checklist is completed. Maintain compliance with the company’s standards and regulations to ensure safe and efficient operation of the hotel.
• Critique variances to budget or to prior year and offer practical improvement methodologies to management.
Requirements:
• A minimum of 5 years related progressive experience in hotel Accounting.
• Hotel experience in major brand hotel chains such as Starwood, Hilton and/or Marriott is required. BA in Accounting is preferred.
• Prior experience in an upscale, four star-four diamond hotel preferred.
• Solid experience in all areas of Accounting from A/P, A/R, General Ledger, Credit, Collections in a hotel/hospitality environment. Strong knowledge in all areas of Accounting from A/P, A/R, General Ledger, Credit Audit, Inventory control, Payroll, Budgeting, and Costing.
• Excellent time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Excellent customer service skills.
Assistant Food & Beverage Director
The Assistant F&B Director is responsible for coordinating, supervising and directing all property food and beverage operations, while maintaining a profitable F&B department and high quality products and service levels. He/she is expected to market ideas to promote business; reduce employee turnover; maintain revenue and payroll budgets; and meet budgeted productivity while keeping quality consistently high. We require an Assistant Director of Food and Beverage with extensive banquet operational experience to work within our busy Food and Beverage department.
Requirements:
* Bachelor’s Degree or minimum 4 years experience in F&B management in a major hotel brand chain such as Starwood, Hilton and Marriott is required.
* Minimum three years banquet managerial experience.
* Knowledge of food and beverage products.
* Knowledge of menu development and menu engineering.
* Knowledge of cost controls.
* Proven leadership in high volume food & beverage operations.
* Implement necessary controls to ensure proper ROI.
* Oversee the entire banquet operations.
* Illustrates proper technique and etiquette, defines performance needed for each type of event.
* Strong knowledge of service standards, and different service types (French, Russian, etc.)
* Knowledge of food and beverage preparation techniques, health department rules and regulations, liquor laws and regulations.
* Ability to lead and direct a team.
* Ability to uphold and implement service standards.
* Effectively motivate associates and maintain a cohesive team.
* Designs concepts for promotional efforts.
* Ensure compliance with health, safety, sanitation and alcohol awareness standards.
* Perform other duties as required by immediate supervisor.
Front Office Manager
Front Office Manager is responsible for overseeing the entire front office operations for a large full service hotel to insure profitability, control costs and quality standards ensuring total guest satisfaction. A combination of education, training or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities is required. A minimum of two years experience as a Front Office Manager with Sheraton Hotels and a college degree, or equivalent, is preferred.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Maximize room revenue and occupancy by effectively controlling rates and availability (on the day of arrival)
• Payroll monitoring and forecasting
• Ensure proper staffing at all times
• Monitoring staff performance – counseling and write-ups when needed
• Resolving guest and associate issues with the ability of turning a negative experiences to a positive experience
• Ensuring that all Front Desk Agents are in proper uniform, and have performed all duties associated with their shift
• Handle all guest complaints and comments relating to the department
• Ensure the brand service training manual is used effectively and consistently maintained
• Assisting with phones, taking reservations, guest requests and inquiries
• Ensuring that the Front Desk and Lobby are neat and clean at all times
• Perform all aspects of HR and training functions, including performance appraisal, counseling and coaching
• Completing shift checklist and necessary reports
• Monitoring guest accounts and room inventory
• Cooperate and work directly with all room departments, indirectly with other departments
• Perform other duties as required by immediate supervisor
Hotel Front Office experience
• High school Diploma or equivalent; college degree preferred.
• Minimum of 2 years Front Office management experience
• Successful in problem solving skills
• Strong organizational skills
• Great personality, leadership and communication skills
• Ability to multi-task
• Ability to work well in a team environment
