NBA League Senior Financial Analyst

Position Summary:

Senior Financial Analyst for the NBA League Office supporting the acccounting for Basketball Operations, Community and Player Programs, Marketing,Team Business Operations and other Departments.  This includes day-to-day transactional and process support, monthly financial and performance reporting, and ad hoc business evaluations.

Major Responsibilities:

• Work closely with departments to ensure compliance of accounting procedures. 
• Assist departments with developing tactics and strategies for major business initiatives.
• Support departments with annual budgets and business planning processes.
• Collaborate with various departments to achieve process journal entries, account analysis, metrics and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Assist with year-end audit requests and schedules.
• Identify and apply technology related improvements to streamline business processes.
• Prepare monthly variance analysis (actual vs. budget, prior year and projection), and supporting schedules and reports.
• Prepare and distribute monthly financial statements to departments providing a comprehensive analysis of month and year-to-date results vs. projection.
• Analyze department activities and trends and develop assessment of risk and opportunities.
• Conduct monthly financial review meetings with Senior Staff members.

Required Skills/Knowledge:

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent analytical and organizational skills.
• Strong PC skills with proficiency in Word and Excel (including Pivot Tables).
• Ability to design and maintain analysis and reporting worksheets required.
• PeopleSoft and Hyperion experience a plus.
• Ability to meet frequent deadlines.
• Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
• Must be a team player.

Experience Needed:

• 2-3 years of experience in Accounting/Corporate Finance.

Educational Background Required:

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting is required.
