Patient Accounting Director

PHNS’ business office or patient financial services solution offers hospitals a continuum of efficient, cost-effective and reliable functionality that covers the entire flow of the revenue cycle.PHNS is looking for a Patient Accounting Director to work onsite at a client location in Miami, FL. In this role you will manage, coordinate and plan the functions of the assigned project(s) to meet the client’s needs. Essential functions include:  Effectively manages overall aspects of assigned project, establishing project priorities, targets, goals and timely processing of patient account inventory.   Examines and proposes work plans, system strategy, project staffing, and initial assignment processing for client in conjunction with the Administrative Directors and Vice President of Operations.   Coordinates account returns and new business schedules with the Information Services Department and the Administrative Director for Client Relations.   Monitors progress of project actuaries for resolution and outstanding issues on a monthly basis, identifying billing and follow-up errors, and gathers data for reporting to the Administrative Director.   Oversees the performance of staff members, identifying areas of concern, providing feedback for development and growth, administering employee evaluations, and advises recruitment, disciplinary, and termination actions as needed to the Administrative Director.     Manages work performed by direct reports on assigned project(s), including the use of system applications, the status on month-end reporting, and the organizational development of assigned projects to attain optimal efficiency and work quality in accordance with approved work plans.   Ensures that audits of all accounts are performed as per policy. Qualifications: High School diploma or GED 6+ years experience a medical practice billing and/or healhcare/manage care insurance collection setting, preferably a minimum of two years experience in an acute care hospital patient account setting. 2+ years supervisory experience Must possess working knowledge of basic collection laws, payors and industry trends for follow-up and reimbursement. Seasoned experience in using patient account systems, calculating managed care reimbursement contracts and basic knowledge of medical terminology and coding methodologies required. Working knowledge of electronic billing media and data elements, including UB92 and HCFA 1500 forms preferred.
