Payroll Administrator

SUMMARY

 

The Payroll Administrator is responsible for managing the payroll process and performing accounting-related tasks. This person is also accountable and responsible for all aspects of quality service for clients. The Payroll Administrator contacts and assists clients in process of obtaining information for payroll production and tax related issues; verifies totals, responds to/resolves client questions and problems and delivers quality customer service. This person is accountable for maintaining current knowledge of applicable state and federal wage and hour laws, payroll systems to achieve alignment with HR benefits and other related and to ensure effective accounting support.  Facilitating management and team member understanding of payroll procedures is an essential function of this job.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

1. Analyzes, prepares, inputs payroll data and processes payroll for four (4) companies.

2. Ensures compliance with all applicable state and federal wage and hour laws.

3. Prepares weekly, monthly, quarterly and year-end reports (gross payroll, hours worked, vacation accrual, tax deductions, benefit deductions, etc.).

4. Compiles payroll data such as garnishments, vacation time, insurance and 401(k) deductions for management, state, and federal filings and related sources.

5. Poll electronic time clocks (E-time software) and review the downloaded information for completeness and accuracy.

6. Research and implement withholding and unemployment tax requirements for states (especially in new states because of growth/expansion).

7. Performs various journal entries, account reconciliations, and provides General Ledger support.

8. Pull many internal management reports from software.

9. Reconciles benefit vendor liabilities to actual payment as well as to the GL.

10.  Maintains information on a highly confidential basis.

11.  Maintain a team environment with other plant departments.

12.  Champion POET in the community.

13.  Maintain a high level of customer service and friendly atmosphere.

14.  Others duties as assigned.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS/COMPETENCIES

 

To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following competencies to perform the essential functions of this position along with effective oral and written communication skills, and excellent interpersonal skills.

 

An Associate’s degree or greater in a business related field from an accredited higher education facility is a requirement as well as strong knowledge of payroll and payroll tax laws. Experience with multiple states (Midwest). Five (4) or more years of experience with a personnel/payroll automated system are required in a large size staffed company.  Dynamics experience is helpful.

 

A proficient understanding of Microsoft Word and Excel is a must.  The following skills are a requirement in order to perform this job successfully:

· Organization and Writing procedures in logical/methodical manner.

· Excellent attention to detail.

· Ability to multi-task/ Great time management skills.

· Ability to maintain confidential information.
