Mission

To process payroll cycles in a timely and accurate manner. Ensure that all aspects of the payroll function are in compliance with corporate policies and procedures. Ensure that the payroll function utilizes the best available technology and providers to ensure the professional servicing of its customers.

Authority

The Payroll Coordinator will report to HR Advisor.

Job Description Responsibility for the complete preparation and processing of each payroll cycle Responsible for all regulatory compliance including multi-state, multi-national and union requirements Responsible for ensuring that the filing of all tax and earnings returns, including 941’s and W-2’s, are completed in a timely and accurate manner Responsible for ensuring that 1099 filing requirements are achieved for contract employees Prepare, process and reconcile general ledger journal entries as related to payroll and retirement plan contributions Assist with the reporting requirements of operations and accounting to facilitate accurate job costing Assist HR Advisor with the development, implementation and training of necessary payroll policies and procedures Assist with special projects as assigned

Qualifications & skills

Education: Certified Payroll Professional is preferred but not required.

Professional experience: at least 5 years plus in a similar position is preferred

Technical skills:

Strong Microsoft Excel

Quickbooks

Third party payroll provider (ADP, Ceridian, etc)

Interpersonal skills:

Demonstrated ability to prepare and process automated payrolls; strong organizational ability to meet time schedules and deadlines; sound judgement, discretion and confidentiality. Computer knowledge for both on-line and micro computer systems. Effective communication skills, both oral and written to relate well with co-workers, employees, and all levels of management. Must be knowledgeable of federal and multiple state payroll tax laws. Must be perceptive of any implications new payroll tax depositing rules may cause for the entities.
