Company: Whole Foods Market Status: Full Time, Employee Career Level: Manager (Manager/Supervisor of Staff) Location: US-MI-Detroit Job Category: Human Resources Job Description We are seeking an experienced Human Resource Professional for the Payroll Benefits Specialist role.  As a Payroll and Benefits Specialist you will administer team member benefit programs for all of our team members at this location. Additionally, you will ensure that all regional and national benefit information is distributed to team members. You will ensure a positive company image by providing courteous, friendly, and efficient service to customers and team members. Duties: Process store payroll according to regional procedures; maintain personnel files and other employment files. Process unemployment claims in a timely manner to unemployment vendor. Assist in hiring process including job postings, employment ads, and screening applicants. Maintain confidentiality in all aspects of the work. Provide educational training to Team Members and Team Leaders regarding basic aspects of Human Resources. Conduct annual open enrollment and monitor ongoing Team Member benefit eligibility and enrollment. Ensure regional policy and OSHA regulations are followed regarding Workers' Compensation and safety. Support regional vision and execute all regional directives and programs. Completes all necessary paperwork in a timely and accurate manner. Follow food safety and sanitation guidelines. Responds promptly to customer needs and questions and requests assistance when necessary, including answering the store phone system. Performs other duties as assigned by the (Department Manager), Associate Team Leader (Assistant Department Manager), or Supervisor. Requirements: Ability to follow instructions and established procedures. Two to five years' office management or payroll/benefits administration experience. Ability to use computer and software, including Word and Excel. Excellent communication skills and willingness to work as part of a team and self-directed. Detail oriented, well organized and able to adhere to deadlines. Ability to understand Team Members' benefits and payroll needs. Superior spelling skills, and ability to perform simple math operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division). Must take a creative and analytical approach to problem-solving. Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with other Team Members and leadership. Maintain comprehensive knowledge of and ensure compliance with relevant regulatory rules and standards Food and/or retail experience desirable. Ability to perform physical requirements of position. Ability to operate all necessary equipment. Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends and holidays as required. Stand and walk for extended periods of time. Bend and stoop to grasp objects and climb ladders. Bend and lift loads, not to exceed 50 pounds, unassisted and able to push and pull carts with product weighing up to 100 pounds. Use of box cutters.
