Public Relations Specialist

POSITION DESCRIPTION:  The Public Relations Specialist is responsible for all media relations and external communications activities.  As an experienced communicator will develop, implement and measure a strategic PR plan aligned with the company’s business objectives. This individual will work to enhance Instant Tax Service’s image while researching and identifying trends, emerging issues and triggers to proactively generate positive media exposure and increase visibility among, targeted external groups. Responsibilities include research and discover stories, and pitch them to local media and identify/develop opportunities for media interviews and editorial content. Provide support and counsel to Instant Tax Service Franchisees.  Must have a proactive approach to strategize and execute media relations activities. Develop national charitable alignment to garner positive perception nationally. Develop and manage social media/online publicity as well as develop and communicate media interview protocol for franchisees.  Plan special events to engender the brand to the market and research, identify and develop a charity alignment appropriate for the target market.  MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s Degree  with 2+ years of public relations experience and 2 + years of media relations experience. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. The ability to develop and edit high-quality written materials, including media correspondence, press releases and key messages. Strong problem solving skills and attention to detail, with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.  Result and client-focused approach and commitment.  Experience mitigating and managing media situations and preparing executives for media interviews. Must have a passion for pitching to local community media sources across 75+ DMAs and be a team player, as well as independent thinker and worker.
