Quantitative Services, Pricing & Profitability - Senior Consultant Regulatory & Capital Markets Consulting Pricing & Profitability Management Senior Consultant Locations: New York, Houston or Chicago Our Pricing & Profitability Management practice provides holistic solutions to help clients to effectively set, manage, communicate and enforce prices while identifying profitable areas of business for growth and less profitable areas for restructuring. Our Pricing & Profitability Management services span analytics, behavioral predictive modeling, econometric modeling, technology and change management. We often include services from other parts of the firm, such as human capital to improve incentives and tax to address transfer pricing opportunities. We deliver solutions that include improvements to pricing & profitability analytics, price optimization and price execution, focused on both opportunities that can be implemented immediately and those that require longer-term structural changes. The ideal candidate will be able to be an effectivecontributor to a team providing pricing & profitability management services to financial services clients in partnership with clients, other parts of Deloitte and third-party software vendors that provide tools that help enable pricing & profitability management processes: · Pricing & Profitability Analytics: formulate approaches to gather and analyze key internal and external data to understand profitability dynamics by product, customer segment and distribution channel, to uncover key areas of revenue leakage and to identify the key drivers of demand and quantify the elasticity of demand · Price Optimization: devise processes to determine and keep up-to-date the "optimal" prices to be used in marketing financial services products and services · Price Execution: develop methods to assist in implementation of prices in the field including sales force negotiation and management compliance tools Responsibilities: · Contribute to projects that will range from short up-front opportunity assessments to multi-month pricing & profitability management "pilot" efforts to longer-term "enterprise" implementations · Work with mix of client, Deloitte and third-party software vendor staff to ensure high-quality project delivery in a timely manner · Take responsibility for creating client deliverables related to projects · Identify other opportunities at clients related to and beyond pricing & profitability management effort; these efforts, for example, might include process enhancement projects, performance incentive or organizational redesign efforts or refinements to key inputs to the pricing & profitability management efforts such as capital allocation or activity-based costing · Work with senior members of the team to develop and expand client opportunities including supporting marketing effort · Provide thought-leadership regarding additional areas in which to grow Deloitte's pricing & profitability management practice within new sectors of financial services Skills Seeking: · Bachelors degree required; Advanced Degree preferred. · Minimum 2 years work experience, preferably either management consulting or related consumer products industry. Financial Services and Energy industry experience a plus. · Strong foundation including knowledge of process flows, profitability analysis, key data elements and competitive environment in one or more of the following areas 1) consumer mortgages; 2) consumer & small business banking; 3) credit card or merchant services; 4) investment management & securities brokerage; 6) treasury services; 6) personal lines insurance; 7) auto finance · Strong analytical skills including financial statement analysis, competitive analysis, segmentation analysis and statistical analysis; experience with data gathering and cleansing, data analysis and insight development · Basic understanding of loan loss forecasting, capital allocation and activity-based costing methodologies · Demonstrated experience in working with clients and working with third-party vendors · Excellent written and verbal communication skills · Experience in at least one of the following is highly desirable: relational database development (Oracle PL/SQL or equivalent), object-oriented programming (C++, Java, or equivalent), XML, SAS · Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Access) Travel: Average 50% travel potential Ref:cm08About DeloitteDeloitte refers to one or more of Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu, a Swiss Verein, and its network of member firms, each of which is a legally separate and independent entity.
