Retail Credit Liaison I

RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Act as the primary liaison for Retail Banking Managers on new business development that focuses on the acquisition of profitable commercial customers, particularly those within the Small Business segment that have SB3 credit needs.

Effectively partner with Retail Banking Managers to cross-sell the Bank's commercial products and services to existing commercial customers. Participate in joint calls with Retail Banking partners to develop customer relationships and support specific product sales across business lines.

Credit Quality/Portfolio Management:
Identify, evaluate, structure and document commercial credit transactions (primarily SB3) to ensure maximum profitability with reasonable risk.

Build and develop customer relationships to position Sovereign as the bank of choice.

Compliance:
Work with internal and external auditors and corporate compliance to ensure conformity with bank policies and procedures and federal and state regulations.

Community Outreach:
Represent Retail Banking in civic and community functions to further enhance Sovereign's image and develop expanded business.
May be required to mentor less experienced Credit Liaisons and/or Retail Managers
Participates in special projects as assigned.

 

REQUIREMENTS:

 

A Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance or related field, or equivalent work experience, and 3-5 years of commercial lending experience.
Solid knowledge of commercial banking products and services (both credit and non-credit), Sovereign Bank's Credit Policy and Procedures, competitor product lines, commercial compliance regulations.
Knowledge of financial analysis, risk evaluation, loan documentation and commercial loan collection activities.
Demonstrated strong sales, presentation, interpersonal, negotiation and written and verbal communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to work independently and leverage professional relationships within and outside the bank.
Full utilization of CMG sales automation tools and related technologies.
