The Federation of State Boards of Physical Therapy develops and administers the National Physical Therapy Examination (NPTE) for both physical therapists and physical therapist assistants in 53 jurisdictions – the 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and the Virgin Islands. These high-stakes exams assess the basic entry-level competence for first time licensure or registration as a PT or PTA within the 53 jurisdictions.

Position Summary

 

:

 

Oversee the daily financial operations to include the record keeping and reporting systems. Responsible for monitoring compliance with a strong system of internal controls. Oversees and manages accounting staff, currently consisting of a general ledger bookkeeper.  Educate and serve as an advisor and source of support for members of the Leadership Team, employees, member jurisdictions, and the general public, regarding financial operations (historical and forecasted).

 

Position Functions:

a.       Develop, implement and monitor compliance with appropriate accounting systems and procedures.

 

b.       Monitor compliance with procedures that will support a strong system of internal controls and make recommendations for improvement in such controls.

 

c.       Produce financial reports which are reliable, consistent and that meet the needs of the users of such reports.

 

d.       Serve as a resource to assist others in reviewing and evaluating existing and proposed programs and projects and overall financial planning.

 

e.       Assist in the preparation of the Financial Budget and the on-going compliance monitoring.

 

f.        Assist the CFO as appropriate, with contract negotiations involving the Federation.

 

g.       Consult with CFO on ways to improve overall fiscal operations.

 

h.       Manage the accounting functions including general accounting, payroll, payables, receivables, investment and fixed asset accounting.

 

i.         Prepare, monthly reports on the fiscal operations of the Federation and it’s subsidiaries and analyze major variances to budget.

 

j.         Acts as the key contact for the external financial audit.

 

k.       Oversees the preparation of federal, state and local tax returns for property tax, sales & use tax and all payroll related taxes forms.
