SENIOR BOND UNDERWRITER I

Great American's Bond Division, headquartered in Cincinnati, Ohio, has been underwriting surety and fidelity bonds for over 75 years. Great American is known for expert underwriting, solid financial strength, market leadership and creative solutions to all bonding needs. With a highly diverse product line, Great American is one of the top surety companies in the United States.
The Bond Division is currently seeking a Senior Underwriter to help support this growing Division. The position is located in the Blue Ash, OH regional office.
This position may be a Bond Underwriter or Sr. Bond Underwriter level, depending on experience.
This individual will be responsible for underwriting and producing profitable Bond business within an assigned territory. Daily tasks include underwriting within scope of authority, risk acceptance, improvement, delineation, and cancellation of all contract surety lines. Other duties will include investigating new and existing surety accounts through banks, owners, creditors, debtors, architects, and engineers.
· Three years of underwriting experience with a concentration in the surety area.
· Thorough knowledge of underwriting standards for all classes of bond business and coverages provided.
· Bachelor Degree in Business or related field, or equivalent job experience.
· Advanced knowledge of finance and economic principals.
· Knowledge of accounting and credit.
· Excellent oral and written communication skills.
· AFSB certification or continuous study towards certification a plus.
