STAFF ACCOUNTANT/COST ACCOUNTANT

 

POSITION: Staff Accountant / Cost Accountant

POSITION SUMMARY:

 

Work with Accounting and Client Partnership teams to insure accurate job costing, revenue recognition, and billing. Prepare general ledger analysis and month end journal entries including revenue recognition. Process semi-monthly payroll.

 

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

1.

General Accounting.

· Process accounting transactions for the following areas: GL, Job Cost, and Payroll

· Process payroll and record semi monthly payroll entries

2.

Month End

· General ledger account reconciliations

· Prepare journal entries

· Revenue accruals

· Bank reconciliations

3.

Cost Accounting

· Review job costs reports to verify that costs are properly recorded, jobs have been billed, and revenue has been recognized

· Accrue revenue and maintain detailed schedule

· Determine which jobs are ready to be closed

4.

Other responsibilities

· SOX compliance

· Close jobs in ERP system

· Prepare year audit schedules

5.

Misc ad-hoc projects.

 

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

 

EDUCATION:

BS/BA in Accounting.

 

 

WORK EXPERIENCE:

3-5 years experience as an Accountant. Payroll experience, ADP or Ceridian is a plus. Cost accounting or SOX experience is a plus.

 

 

COMPUTER SKILLS:

Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word. Excellent computer skills. Experience with an ERP system is a plus.

 

 

SOFT SKILLS:

Detail Oriented. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Excellent organization and time management skills. Must be able to meet deadlines within a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

 

 

INTERPERSONAL SKILLS:

Strong interpersonal skills with effective communication skills.  Positive attitude.  Natural tendency to be proactive.
