Sales Audit/Inventory Control Analyst for Apparel Company!

General Overview: Contributes to operating and managing the retail stores inventory accounting and sales audit functions for the company through the preparation and analysis of monthly inventory and financial data.

 

Responsibilities:

 

1.  Participate in the month end closing process.

·  Prepare monthly journal entries to facilitate identification of proper general ledger balances within three days after the close of the fiscal retail month.  Journal entry responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

Sales Journal Entry

Cash Disbursements

Inter Company Purchases & Returns

Inter Company Merchandise transfers to Phantom Locations

Clothing Allowance Adjustments

Inventory

Inventory in Transit

Gift Card Liability

·  Participate in monthly Profit and Loss reviews and be prepared to address issues concerning inventory and sales audit.

 

2.  Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations for the Inventory accounts.

 

3.  Prepare or help with the preparation of certain tax reporting that is prepared by the accounting department.

 

4.  Participate in special projects as assigned by the Vice President – Finance or the Retail Controller.

 

5.  Prepare, monitor and evaluate the physical inventory process.

·  Assure that all stores are properly prepared to receive the inventory counters by adhering to all issued procedures.

·  Follow up with stores on day of inventory to assure process is going smoothly.

·  Facilitate pre and post inventory reviews with store management.

 

6. Review KWI exception reporting and follow up with the stores to resolve any open issues.

 

Success Measures: 

 Ability to produce a timely and accurate month end data to be included in the month end financial package.Ability to complete month end reconciliations timely and in a manner conducive to review by management.Managing and overseeing the successful implementation of the physical inventory process on a recurring basis.Ability to define and issue procedures to the retail stores to aide in the day to day inventory operations.

Required Experience and Qualifications:

 Four year degree in accounting is preferred.Must have worked in a retail inventory control or sales audit environment for at least three to four yearsProficient in Microsoft Excel.Must have knowledge of the physical inventory process, procedures and controls.
