Senior Accountant
Basic Function:
Acts as a business partner assisting assigned functional groups on budget planning, cost center reporting, cost allocation and other accounting and financial administration activities. Performs complex accounting work while maintaining one or a combination of general accounting, budget or cost systems. Balances ledgers, profit and loss, income, and balance sheet statements. Ensures all activities are compliant with company policies and procedures and all financial information is prepared in accordance with GAAP and company regulations.
Essential Duties:
Acts as the primary cost center financial contact for the tracking, analysis and reporting within assigned area of responsibility. Consults and educates management on financial statements and reports to assist with solving business issues. Prepares, maintains and reconciles records and accounts including ledger accounts and related activities for the production of financial statements and fiscal reports including income and balance sheet statements, consolidated statements and various other accounting statements and reports. Maintains and processes entries in accordance with US GAAP. Analyzes and advises finance management on financial reports and records, completing studies or recommendations relative to the accounting of reserves, assets and expenditures. Completes a monthly review & analysis of cost allocations to ensure costs are fully allocated to the appropriate cost centers at the correct value. Coordinates the annual operating budget for assigned cost centers and develops the full year cost allocation requirement. Provides cost center spending reports for assigned cost centers including analysis and explanations of spending trends and variances to the cost center budget. Oversees the distribution of center cost reports and facilitates cost reviews with appropriate management.
Maintains one or a combination of general accounting, budget or cost accounting systems. Maintains and updates system tables and other financial system requirements. Utilizes accounting and financial business systems involved in on line transactions or outside finance systems. May participate on projects with significant business impact or may conduct special studies and develop or recommend accounting methods and procedures changes. May provide functional advice or training to less experienced accountant positions. Instructs or assigns work to junior level accounting support staff and other employees engaged in general accounting activities.
Requirements:
Bachelors degree in Accounting. CPA a plus. Four years Accounting experience required. Experience with integrated financial systems preferred. Advanced knowledge with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Good organizational, analytical, and verbal and written communication skills. Detail and deadline oriented and proficient in Microsoft Office. SAP preferred.
