Senior Accountant

Position Description:

As a result of continued growth at The Bonadio Group we are now seeking experienced accountants with public accounting expertise dealing with clients in industries such as government, not-for-profit, commercial, small business advisory services (strong tax planning focus), and more.  As a Senior Accountant you will be coordinating projects/engagements while ensuring delivery is consistent with partner/manager and client expectations.

Responsibilities:
Develop understanding of client’s business and aspects of client’s industry. Will assist in planning and budget control of engagement.    Use appropriate resources and technology. Possess technical knowledge sufficient to supervise staff accountants and In-Charge Staff. Obtain a good understanding of firm’s full range of client services and with the ability to identify cross-selling opportunities.   Know and understand the reason behind the firm’s policies and procedures. Deliver projects/engagements on time, within budget and to client's satisfaction. Relied upon to resolve all open items/issues encountered on assigned engagements.    Possess an understanding of accounting principals such as GAAP, GASB, GAO, OCBOA as well as pronouncements of the AICPA and FASB in order to produce financial statements, reviews, and compilations.Obtain a thorough understanding of generally accepted auditing standards and common audit procedures and techniques.   Assume responsibility for efficiently supervising both audit and non-audit engagements. Serve as a mentor and role model by providing honest, objective and constructive feedback in timely manner. Demonstrating the ability to teach staff while on the job   Make decisions and commit to a course of action recognizing the impact of decisions and actions on others.    Consider and evaluate all relevant factors when making decisions. Display insightful solutions to problems and ensure they are properly executed. Exercise sound judgment regarding when to refer issues outside of your authority to more senior staff.

Qualifications:The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 3 years public accounting experienceWill hold a bachelors in Accounting meeting requirements for CPA LicenseAlready posses CPA Certification or a desire to attain within 1 year of hireClear and concise written and verbal communication skills

Hours and Location:

Full time position located in Pittsford, Buffalo and Syracuse NY.
