Senior Accountant I

The Investment Accounting department of the Financial Division is primarily responsible for the accounting and tracking of all investment related transactions and income for all American Financial Group companies on a monthly basis. This requires the completion of Excel spreadsheets, booking journal entries and communication within the Financial Division, as well as, at all American Financial Group subsidiary companies that we serve. We are responsible for regulatory compliance, both internal and external.

Responsible for monthly investment values, including:

· Progress book values
· Calculate and record of investment income for large & complex portfolios
· Calculate and record of SAP & GAAP carrying values

Responsible for monthly schedules, including:

· Prepare book value verification between years
· Prepare consolidated values and journal entries
· Prepare interest book
· Prepare investment closing package
· Monitor and investigate variances
· Prepare inventory reconciliation

Responsible for other quarterly and annual schedules, including

· Prepare Quarterly and Annual Statements

Work on new investment system project: user acceptance testing, data conversion and issue resolution

· Bachelors Degree or equivalent work experience, CPA a plus
· 3 – 5 years experience in accounting, preferrably insurance
· Strong Microsoft Excel skills, analytical skills, attention to detail, organizational skills and communication
