Senior Data Analyst

POSITION SUMMARY The Senior Data Analyst works with business users to create requirements to be used as inputs to design, build, and deliver systems which integrate enterprise data.  Specifically, the Senior Data Analyst assists in the process of creating data models, source-to-target mappings, transformation designs, and user acceptance test cases.  The Senior Data Analyst ensures the quality of the final solution delivered to customers, including the underlying business data.  The Senior Data Analyst coaches and mentors other Data Analysts on the team to increase their level of skill and efficiency.  The Senior Data Analyst allows developers to increase their efficiency by concentrating specifically on design and development activities.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES -Perform analysis and design activities required to support matching consumers and providers of data across the enterprise.-Assist in the process to create and maintain logical data models.-Create data flow diagrams.-Create source-to-target mappings between data sources and target data stores.-Design transformation logic required to convert data formats in data sources to formats required by data consumers in target data stores.-Lead business users in developing metrics, calculations, and key performance indicators required to fulfill their business requirements.-Assist in implementation of the physical data model based on the logical data model.-Develop data validation and user acceptance test cases.-Develop processes and queries to ensure quality of data in centralized stores.-Develop and conduct user acceptance tests.-Provide operational support to troubleshoot data-related problems in production systems.-Work with vendors to understand new capabilities of their software and how those capabilities can be used to solve problems for business users.-Work with vendors to resolve issues with their software.-Create and deliver presentations to the IT and business community to promote Data Management capabilities.-Negotiate and develop service level agreements with data consumers.-Coach and mentor other data analysts on the team to increase their skill level and productivity.-Assist the Manager of Data Management in creating efficient team processes.-Set the standard for excellence on the Data Management team in data analysis and source to target mappings.-Assist in the process of modeling the most challenging business data cases.-Ensure the Data Management team stays up to date in the industry best practices for data management.-Plan and estimate project work for the Data Management team.-Understand Grant Thornton’s business data to a significant depth.-Adhere to highest degree of professional standards and strict confidentiality in matters that require discretion.-Attend professional development and training sessions on a regular basis.-Perform other job-related duties as necessary.QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS -Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, MIS, or related field. -Six years of data analysis experience.-Ability to understand and provide feedback on complex relational data models.-Ability to construct complex SQL queries.-CMS Open experience a plus.-Ability to create process flow diagrams.-Ability to lead and instruct junior resources.-Proficiency with best practices in data analysis, source-to-target mappings, master data management and metadata management.-Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communications skills. -Strong public speaking and presentation skills.-Team oriented, flexible and able to work in a changing work environment. -Experience with Microsoft Suite ( Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint ). -Ability to work additional hours as needed.
