Senior Director, Accounting Policy & Financial Reporting-MMC Controllers-Hoboken, NJ

 This person will be responsible for the establishment of a Company-wide process to develop and implement accounting policies and procedures necessary to satisfy GAAP and SEC reporting requirements, development, implementation and management of consolidation/financial reporting systems (IT) and oversight of Financial reporting process.  Reporting to the Assistant Controller- Financial Reporting, the following responsibilities are performed: Accounting policy Interpret new accounting pronouncements, document required accounting policies and lead company wide implementation of those policies Assess and quantify potential impact of new or proposed accounting pronouncements and communicate to senior management Research, document and recommend alternative and appropriate accounting treatment, financial report presentation and disclosure requirements for proposed or actual transactions Influence emerging accounting standards through communication of MMC’s position on proposed pronouncements to the standard setting bodies such as the FASB Coordinate with MMC Financial Reporting and Planning & Analysis groups and Operating Company Controllers to ensure changes necessary to comply with new pronouncements or policies are incorporated into the financial reporting, budgeting and analysis processesReporting Systems Lead development and implementation process for consolidation /financial reporting system Manage ongoing systems modifications and production environmentFinancial Reporting Review/Oversight of SEC reporting processStrong knowledge of GAAP and SEC reporting requirements Ability to translate technical accounting requirements/address accounting issues Independent thought with ability to develop articulate and defend positions Strong communication skills, both written and oral, both upward and downward Experience in managing financial reporting and reporting systems of multinational company Strong business partnering skills and the ability to work through areas outside of direct reports CPA required Ability to meet deadlines Minimum ten years relevant experience in public accounting and/or industry
