Universities in North Carolina founded RTI in 1958 as the first scientific organization in and centerpiece of the Research Triangle Park.   Job Description The Sr. Financial Analyst of RTI’s Corporate FP&A (Financial Planning and Analysis) will be responsible for providing proactive guidance, supporting RTI International’s financial success by providing high level analytical expertise, creating and streamlining business processes and developing strong collaborative relationships. The Sr. Financial Analyst should be someone who has the right blend of financial expertise, critical thinking, desire to learn and customer service mindset to become a valued financial business partner. The Business Partners supported will be Human Resources, Corporate affairs, Chief Counsel, Treasurer and Controller.

Responsibilities

• Proactively guide and support their respective G&A Business Partners’ financial success by providing high level analytical expertise, implementing business strategies and developing strong customer relationships.
• Provide timely informed, rigorous variance analysis and monthly performance analysis.
• Develop monthly forecasts with collaboration from Business Partner.
• Develop annual budgets through strong collaboration with Business Partners..
• Identify, analyze and communicate key performance metrics and leading indicators to enable achievement of desired results.
• Drive or support establishment of new reporting and analytical processes and assess existing processes for improvement opportunities.
• Acquire and analyze financial data for major initiatives and policy changes, comprehending the potential impact to all business functions and business units.
• Persuasively present clear explanations and conclusions to senior management.
• Utilize financial analysis techniques to drive decisions that are in support of the Institute’s goals.  Ensure analysis results in meaningful insights.
• Participate in financial analysis and due diligence support for strategic projects including acquisitions.
• Identify problems and provide leadership toward resolution of problems using process reengineering, change management and effective teamwork.
• Support the preparation of the RTI strategic plan, focusing on the financial forecasting.
• Ad-hoc analysis as needed

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance preferred.  Other undergraduate degrees will be considered with additional related work experience.
• MBA a plus
• 7-10 years of financial analysis experience.
• Extensive experience as finance Business Partner
• Desire to be “Ambassador of Finance”
• Possesses strong knowledge of financial systems, report writing, advanced budgeting and financial analysis
• Possesses strong knowledge of accounting and advanced spreadsheet capabilities
• Government Contracting experience a plus.
• Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to work with multiple personalities and levels within the Institute.
