Senior GL Accountant

Large real estate investment and management company is seeking a Senior GL Accountant to perform accounting for a portfolio of commercial, retail and residential properties and provide property management support to tenants and investors.  The position will report to the Assistant Controller and interface with the property management team, tenants, leasing, banks, auditors, tax specialists and investors.

 

Essential Functions:Review and maintain multiple General Ledgers and adhere to a monthly closing schedule as published.Prepare and post monthly journal entries for all accrual basis accounting. Maintain, analyze and reconcile all balance sheet accounts as part of the monthly close.Prepare variance analyses within reporting deadlines.Update detailed records for fixed asset additions each month, including closing out WIP.Review and process Management fee’s on a monthly basis.Review Real Estate tax billings and maintain property tax folder for accruals and true-ups.Conduct monthly financial review meetings with property managers.Perform annual CAM reconciliations.Review and maintain CAM budget pools and exclusions for accuracy.Review accuracy of monthly Rent-roll posting.Review and approve all manual adjustments (CCF’s) for validity and are substantiated before processing into MRI.Review annual tenant CAM billings, ensuring scheduled increases are timely.Prepare annual “Audit Packs.” (CCH)Prepare monthly bank reconciliations.Participate in the annual budgeting process.Prepare and file all State sales and use tax returns and personal property tax returns. Ensure compliance with existing policies and procedures.Ensure compliance with partnership and management agreements and debt covenants.Respond to lender requests.Respond to requests from outside partners.Assist with any special projects as required or requested.



Requirements:Degree in Accounting from an accredited university.  3+ years prior accounting experience in the real estate industry.Microsoft Office Products (Excel, Word, Outlook, Access, etc.) is required.  Experience with MRI is a plus.
