Senior Manager - Financial Systems

MOHELA is currently searching for an outstanding individual to join us as a Senior Manager of Financial Systems.

 

General Statement of Duties:  Responsible for the administration of MOHELA’s  financial and accounting systems; the development of requirements for automated collection of financial information, and financial/accounting tools; the implementation of those tools; and the testing and quality assurance techniques associated with financial system development. Will utilize accounting and economic theory knowledge demanded by MOHELA’s regulatory and reporting requirements.  Develop and implement management processes that provide support to senior management in the areas of Management Reporting, Project/Performance Management and Strategic Business Planning.

 

Responsibilities

Analysis, Development, Testing, and Implementation of Financial/Accounting Systems –  

• Serve as a financial systems administrator and liaison between the Accounting and Information Technology team members

• Upgrade and expand usage of MAS200 accounting software, system enhancements and custom reporting.

• Responsible for financial system configuration, data flow, data retrieval, reporting, communicating and troubleshooting (identifying, analyzing, and resolving) financial accounting systems issues while maintaining financial accounting system integrity.

• Provides guidance and assistance to internal users in analysis, reconciliation, data retrieval, system flow and reporting requirements

• Identifies areas where efficiencies can be achieved through automation; creates applications to automate manual processes; and represents the interest of the department in meetings.

• Performs thorough analyses of business results and makes recommendations to IT's senior staff.

• Partner with IT regarding improvements/upgrades to the system and perform required testing

• Partner with IT teams to determine business needs and develop operating and capital budgets.

• Participate and/or lead small to medium size systems development projects and enhancement efforts representing the interests of the end user and Accounting Systems. This includes understanding and documenting processes as well as design, development end user tools, testing, implementation and communication.

• Collaborates with IT and finance staff to meet business requirements;

• Responsible for end user training.

Month End Processing –

In depth involvement in the month end processing including recording of trustee statement activity, bond statement of operations variance analysis, bond trial balance review, journal entries and general ledger reconciliations.

Financial Models –

Develop and maintain financial models, to be utilized by the entire organization, for consistent financial theory and integrity of analysis in the areas of risk and benefit. Monitor and implement enhancements to financial models as needed. 

Budgeting –

Assist in the redevelopment of and provide support to the organizations profit planning/budget preparation process.

Projects –

Meet with department management and third party vendors to ensure financial integrity of all projects.  Monitor and report critical project milestones.

Requirements

· Bachelor Degree in Business Administration with emphasis in accounting or finance with supplemental coursework in Information Systems/Technology required or Bachelor Degree in Information Technology or Management Information Systems with supplemental coursework in Accounting/Finance required. Graduate Degree in business related field and/or CPA a plus. Additional years of relevant work experience can qualify in place of supplemantal coursework .

· Minimum of 5 years experience in general accounting. 3 years of experience in analyzing financial systems.   Experience should include functional knowledge of Financial Accounting Statements.

· Detail-oriented, considerable initiative and ability to work well with others.

· Should possess a high degree of professionalism, confidentiality, courtesy, tact and good written and verbal communication skills.
