Senior Reinsurance Accountant

Make a smart career move, and apply today. Key responsibilities of the Sr Reinsurance Accountant include: Handling complex and new account programs. Interpreting contracts and initializing appropriate reinsurance accounting transactions and or system updates. Also includes proper accounting treatment as it relates to compliance within regulatory guidelines both GAAP/STAT Accounting, reporting and interpreting current financials on a periodic or adhoc basis Maintaining and improving production process through automation efforts. Activities include and are not limited to reviewing reports and addressing production related issues. Leading, managing and participating in specific projects requiring expertise by defining, analyzing, and relating the impacts anticipated for the project. Evaluating current and future business needs and requirements to determine the need for and scope of business analysis to be performed. Assess impact and make recommendations on how to best service the business segment. Supervise, training and development of staff if applicable Preparing analyzing and disseminating system generated and/or adhoc reports following procedures or supervisor's directions Servicing internal (Line of Business or segment) attorneys, claims and external brokers, reinsurers with specific tasks relative to reinsurance processing or performing tasks as assigned by manager Participate on special projectsUnitedHealth Group is a drug-free workplace.  Candidates are required to pass a drug test before beginning employment BS in Finance or Accounting or equivalent experience CPA/MBA a plus 5-7 years (overall) professional experience in a finance/accounting function, with at least 3-4 years in a specific reinsurance function Strong analytical skills Strong computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Windows and Office applications and ability to learn systems. Ability to meet strict deadlines. Excellent communication skills and the ability to interact with senior-level staff
