Senior Staff Accountant GL/Operations- Pets Welcome 45-60K!!

Duties and Responsibilities:

Assist in the month-end closing process. This includes performing analysis of actual versus budget, preparing journal entries and reclassifying errors, explaining variances, and interfacing with other departments to give instruction on proper classification of expenses.



Continually assess current policies and procedures and make necessary changes in procedures to improve the productivity and accuracy of financial reporting.
Act as a liaison for the assigned function to provide accounting guidance to the organization.



Prepare or oversee the preparation of various balance sheet schedules and reconciliations for monthly, quarterly and year-end audit purposes. Answer all appropriate questions from external auditors regarding these schedules and ensure their accuracy.



Provide or oversee the preparation of all journal entries related to the assigned function.



Review all new technology (hardware and software) that will impact the integrity and timely reporting of the assigned function.



Assist in the documentation and review of accounting policies and procedures including suggested updates and improvements. Assist with the updating of Company’s procedures for changes in GAAP.



Work with the Budgeting department to support the budgeting process.
Perform additional duties as assigned.








Education and Experience:BS/BA degree in Accounting/Finance plus a minimum of 4 years progressive responsibility is required Must have large company experience (High volume corporate accounting) Intermediate to advanced level Excel skills and 10-key by touch are required. Previous experience working with PeopleSoft financial software is strongly preferred. Strong interpersonal communications skills are necessary due to the nature and level of interaction with other department personnel as well as senior management. Position requires the ability to develop a strong working knowledge of the accounting operations related issues in the group to which the position is assigned. Qualified candidates must have experience in developing and implementing work process improvements including procedures, processes and policies. Position must have the ability to act as an accounting business partner to assigned group analyzing accounting data and making recommendations on the most profitable and legally compliant approach to accounting issues. In addition, this position must have strong working knowledge of financial analysis.
