SUMMARY
The Senior Tax Analyst is responsible for federal and state income tax compliance, FAS 109 support, FAS 123R support, tax planning, sales and use tax support, and other duties as required. The candidate should have at least 3 years of experience with a major corporation or public accounting firm. The candidate should have working knowledge of FAS 109 and FIN 48. The candidate should be experienced in using tax software (In-Source RS preferred, TaxStream preferred), tax research services (CCH, RIA, BNA), PeopleSoft, and Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, Access, etc.). Candidate should be able to work independently and should function comfortably within a group setting. Strong written and oral communication skills are required.
DUTIES
Preparation of an accurate and timely filed Federal consolidated Form 1120 (along with the related state income tax returns).
Support of quarterly FAS 109 and FIN 48 analysis, including maintaining FAS 123R schedules and tax depreciation schedules. Preparation of other detailed schedules, memorandums, and analysis will be required.
Support tax software implementation projects and represent the tax department in interactions and meetings with other departments.
Assist Tax Director and VP – Taxes in maintaining and executing adequate tax accounting controls and processes to avoid control deficiencies related to SOX/404.
To design procedures to insure an accurate and timely gathering of information necessary for calculating the annual research and development tax credits for the company.
Must be capable of working independently in performing tax research and preparing memorandums and emails to communicate the findings.
Should be capable of supporting the other members of the tax department in payroll tax matters, sales and use tax matters, international tax matters, tax-related due diligence arising from mergers and acquisitions, and tax aspects of various benefits issues (280G, 162(m), etc.).
Need to be capable of developing a working knowledge of Vertex to provide support in sales and use tax compliance.
Ability to extract data directly from various company databases (using TM1, nVision, etc.).
Required Skills
Qualifications/Skills/Abilities Minimum
Formal Education: B.A. or B.S.
Formal Training: 3 – 4 years of corporate tax department or public accounting experience is required
Experience (type & duration): Same as “formal training”.
Skills: Tax compliance software, Microsoft Office
Accreditation/certifications/licenses: CPA candidate
