Sr Business Analyst

This is a highly visible position to senior management.  This position is expected to act as a cross functional leader across finance, operations, pricing and procurement and have the ability to identify opportunities and implement process and organizational improvements that increase profitability, improve financial/operational reporting and accountability, improve internal operations, and increase customer and service provider satisfaction.  The following are areas this position would be focused on to drive results:

 

1. Facilitate and review pricing initiatives.

2. Customer contract/SOW understanding and linkage of billing processes and revenue recognition.

3. Service provider contract understanding, payment process and development of opportunities to negotiate and improve profitability.

4. Develop internal audit procedures that review services performed relative to contractual rates and associated billing to insure completeness and identify services being performed outside of contractual arrangements.

5. Insure operational processes are designed, implemented and monitored to maximize efficiency, effectiveness and accuracy of financial reporting.

6. Training and ability to understand and utilize financial/operational systems including Epicor, NAL Edge, LBS and AMS.

7. Develop key metrics dashboard that translates operational activity into weekly financial results, measures productivity and acts as a concise summary of key metrics and results.

8. Institute P&L accountability by geography and type of service offering and add accountability within NAL for customer financials.

9. Monthly financial statement review and analysis.

10.  Special projects work, presentations and adhoc analysis.

 

Essential Functions/Responsibilities

 

1. 20(%) Reporting, Metrics and Forecasting – responsible for establishing, tracking and reporting key metrics across finance and operations that drive financial performance, forecasting, operational effectiveness (productivity) as well as monitor progress towards established goals.

 

2. 20(%) Cross functional leader – ability to drive process change and improvement across internal functions such as operations, IT, procurement, solution engineering and finance as well as external customers and third party providers.

 

3. 20(%) System & Process Acumen – ability to understand and become super user of custom billing system as well as be proficient in all NAL systems (PTS, AMS, TMS) and Microsoft applications. Experience with process and internal controls documentation and testing essential.

 

4. 20(%) Contract Management and Negotiation - organization, interpretation and understanding of all key contracts to insure customer invoicing as well as service provider payments are complete and accurate in accordance with contract terms.  Responsible for developing and supporting negotiations of future contractual relationships.

 

5. 20(%)  Special project work, presentations and adhoc analysis – requires ability to prioritize, multi-task, execute on deliverables and meet tight deadlines in a dynamic and fast pace environment. 



Qualifications

Finance or Accounting degree required Experience with contract interpretation and revenue recognition principles Requires excellent Microsoft Office skills and overall system acumen Previous experience in transportation or logistics industry a plus Ability to act as change agent across all functional areas of a company Proven leadership and management ability Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.  Good organizational skills and attention to detail.  Multi-tasking abilities Sarbanes Oxley experience a plus Six Sigma qualifications a plus 7+ years of experience
