Senior Director Operations
Position Summary:
In collaboration with executive management, this position is responsible for planning and directing all aspects of the organization's accounting objectives, strategies, and initiatives and policies as well as coordinating with Financial Management on interrelated areas. Analyze financial impact of major business decisions and operational issues affecting the business and make recommendations accordingly. Develop and implement strategies and translate stated objectives into actionable goals. Utilize advanced financial analysis and organizational skills, with the ability to think logically and creatively, to execute tactically. Provide accurate indicators of company performance, provide financial assessments of industry and financial trends and communicate that information to make profitable decisions. Lead a team in being supportive and helpful to others, inspire trust and be forthright and focused on results.
Manage the preparation and review of reports and statistics reflecting earnings, profits, cash balances, and other financial results. Formulate and administer approved accounting practices throughout the organization to ensure that financial and operating reports accurately reflect the condition of the business and provide reliable information necessary to control operations. Manage the Accounting, Purchasing, and Facility/Security departments.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following: Other duties may be assigned. In this position, either directly or through others, the incumbent will:
· Strategic business partner/leader:
· Conduct collaborative business planning/reporting
· Management of pricing/margin
· Consult and advise business unit leaders on financial and business impacting matters
· Consult and advise CEO/CFO on business and financial matters
· Risk Management
· Capital management, inventory control, E&O management
· Establish inventory and asset process controls enabling balance sheet transparency
· Implement controls on capital spending and payback/ROI best practices
· Participate in customer and contract negotiation with top accounts related to risk and terms
· Budget
· Manage cost/financial accounting
· Cost reduction strategies in all business areas
· Manage travel process to insure the best use of company spending on travel
· Process Innovation
· Review, recommend and implement process changes for improved efficiency and performance
· Deep understanding of supply chain management process; recommend process improvements
· Utilize Six Sigma concepts for process analysis and improvement
· Review operations metrics for controls and financial soundness
· Develop business tools to improve reporting analysis and comparable metrics
· Support global SAP footprint across region, including upgrades
· Manage the internal and external audit processes and ensure compliance with Sarbanes Oxley and internal controls
· Leadership to Accounting team focused on value creation; manage functional areas of Accounting, Purchasing, and Facilities/Security departments. Strong relationship with Financial Management to ensure effective cooperation between both areas.
· Other Controller duties including: manage banking relationships of STA; manage Insurance needs of STA; implement administrative policies as they pertain to accounting, purchasing, and facilities operations; manage tax strategies.
· Ensure the accurate and timely preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual financial operating reports and provide analysis of reports.
· Manage/sponsor special projects and project teams.
· Act on behalf of President and CFO in their absence.
Background/Experience to qualify for this position, the following minimal background and skill levels are required:
· A Master's Degree in accounting, business administration, or a related field from a college or university.
· Have 10-12 years experience as a Controller with responsibility for accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, sales, capital assets, tax, payroll, and financial reporting; previous CFO or similar experience preferred. Previous experience managing the Facilities and Security functions preferred. Previous experience with global company preferred.
· Must have SAP R/3 experience or experience with a similar size enterprise business management and financial reporting system.
· Must have Microsoft Office Suite of PC software applications experience with advanced Excel spreadsheet preparation skills operating in a NT LAN/WAN systems environment.

· Reads, interprets, and acts on proper understanding of accounting and financial documents based on corporate legal sales, business applications, and management philosophy.
· Ability to communicate in writing, through email, reports, or orally, complex accounting and financial reporting matters to an audience that may include less technically oriented listeners.
· Ability to lead and direct the activities of staff members in order to achieve personal and team goals and complete assignments within established time frames and specifications. The ability to develop tasks and work assignments, clearly define objectives, and give technical direction with applied knowledge of alternatives and decision-making experience to guide subordinates.
Physical/Mental Demands and Working Conditions: The position requires the ability to perform the essential duties and responsibilities in the following environment:
· Work is generally performed in an office environment.
· Operate a computer keyboard and view a video display terminal more than 95% of work time, including prolonged periods of time.
· Requires considerable (90%+) work utilizing high visual acuity/detail, numeric/character/color distinction, and high hand/finger dexterity.
· The movement and transportation of equipment, most of the time under 25 pounds.
· Performs work under time schedules and stresses which are normally periodic or cyclical, including time sensitive job stress, fatigue, unpaid over-time, intellectual challenge, constant technical data feedback, language barriers, and project management Stress.
· Machines, tools, equipment, and work aids include PC’s, printers, copiers, faxes, and other equipment commonly associated with an office work area.
· Frequently works additional hours beyond normal schedule.
· Moderate travel to customer or STA sites of approximately 40 percent of time or less.
· Under limited supervision with a high level of responsibility to apply general policies and guidelines where decisions are seldom monitored and consequences of decisions may adversely affect operating results and management decisions.
